How to best record audio when using the app's video feature

Hello everybody,
I'm experimenting with the new video feature of the Spark App (on a Huawei P20 - Android 10), but can't find a way to get a good sound from it.
I tried connecting the amp to the phone via USB, which apparently gives me a nice sound quality... But at SUPER-LOW volume.
Tried again with headphones and keeping the output level high, but that seems to not change the signal level on the USB. Not enough anyway...
Recording directly from the phone via its microphone isn't good either. Low volume (I can't play loud, and I don't WANT to), and kinda murky sound.
Does any of you have suggestions?
How to get a good signal level out of that thing?
