Amp Settings when using ToneCloud

Post by Couchbluesman »

I have now played with my Spark 40 a couple of hours and I understand most of it ,,, but one thing is not clear to me!

If I download and use tone, let's say "Joe Bonamassa" ... how do I know which AMP SETTINGS (on the Amp hardware) to use to get close to his original tone?

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, you should actually only change the amp settings in the app (if you want to). I never touch any of the actual knobs on the hardware amp, except "Output" (which is kinda like Master Volume) and "Music Volume" (the little knob that takes care of the volume of the Bluetooth-connected music playing).

Isn't it set in the actual amp button settings in the app?

Sorry, I don't understand. If I download a tone from the cloud I can still select different settings on the amp ... but the downloaded sound requires one specific setting of the hardware to sound like the artist .... how do I know the correct amp settings for the downloaded tone? I can guess, of course ...

Or let me put it another way: The guitarist who uploaded a specific sound of an artist or song ("Jimi Hendrix, Fire") created that sound with specific settings of the amp. Shouldn't there be a way to see what those settings were?

The Tone that you downloaded only has the settings of the virtual amp in it, not the settings of the "real life" knobs on top of the actual physical amp. I believe the software settings overrule all the physical amp button settings with the exception of "Output". Do you have reason to believe otherwise?

I think so ... because if I change the (hardware) amp setting with the downloaded tone (like from GLASSY to CRUNCH) the sound changes.

Do the virtual knobs on the amp in the app also change?
I think once you select a Tone it will sound like intended by the creator of the tone. Then you can change it virtually, and perhaps physically too (with an effect on the virtual knobs). Don't have time to verify that now, sorry ;-)
Thanks for being patient with my probably-not-completely-satisfactory answers.
